A confessional church rooted in the gospel at the edge of Europe.
First Presbyterian Church of Norway is a mission congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America, planted in Stavanger to preach the Word and worship God reverently.
First Presbyterian Church of Norway was planted in 2019 as a mission work of the Presbyterian Church in America, through the Ministry to the Military and Internationals. Our founding conviction was simple: Stavanger, and Norway more broadly, needed a confessional Presbyterian witness. It needed a church where the Word is preached expositionally, the sacraments are administered rightly, and Christ is lifted up above a secular nation.
We believe that the gospel is God's ordinary means of building his church, and so we labor in the ordinary means of grace — preaching, prayer, and the sacraments — trusting the Spirit to do what only he can do.
Our members come from many nations: Norway, South Africa, North America, Asia, Cameroon, and beyond. Our services are in English so that internationals and English-speaking Norwegians alike can worship together without linguistic barrier. We are gospel Presbyterians, catholic in scope and reformed in confession.

A brief timeline of the Lord's kindness to us.
2019 · Beginning
First gatherings in Stavanger
A handful of Reformed families began meeting for Bible study and prayer, discerning God's call to plant a Presbyterian church in Norway's oil capital.
2021 · Public worship
Sunday services begin
FPCN began regular Lord's Day worship with expositional preaching and the sacraments observed under PCA oversight. Our first meetings were in a meeting room at the Clarion Hotel.
2023 · Growing
Our own building secured
The congregation grew to include more families, and so we needed a space of our own. This is where we currently are — with office space, meeting space, and space for the children and regular Sunday activities.
Today · Planting for the future
Building the next generation
FPCN continues to preach, worship, and administer the sacraments — praying for a Reformed witness across the west coast of Norway.
